I woke up around 11:30 AM and Brian did too.
Brian cooked me breakfast and we played Sims 3. Max woke up at 1:00 PM. After we all took showers it was time to go into the city! We stopped at a Burger King to use the free internet. After that we wandered around the city for a while. Max tried to buy a cell phone but couldn't find the right store. Brian attempted to teach me German, it was pretty hilarious. We will probably end up living here so I better start learning! It gets dark here around 4:30 PM?! So we didn't get to see a whole lot because (a) it was cold and (b) it was dark. My credit card is not taken anywhere here which stinks. Now I have to pay a $3.00 fee every time I go get money out of an ATM. Boo. We went grocery shopping which was a ton of fun. After we got back we cooked dinner, pasta and sauce with brats, and went to bed.

Today Brian and I woke up pretty early, around 9:15 AM.
Max and Annika were still asleep. Brian took a shower while I ate an orange. We will see if today will be any better than the past two days! AGH! Annika's mom called the airport and my luggage had arrived! It was waiting at the airport by her house so we drove to get it. We all ate brunch at a bakery near the airport. After that we went home and I took a shower. We caught the 2:00 PM train to Vienna, Austria. The train ride was 5 hours long and I slept for most of it. When we got to Paula's, she showed us around her apartment and we ate dinner together. Max studied abroad here a couple years ago and he stayed with Paula then. So, that's how we know Paula. She went to bed early because she had a flight to Kenya early in the morning. After dinner we watched the movie EuroTrip (how fitting) and went to bed for our first adventures in the morning! We flew through the night and none of us got much sleep, if at all.
There were plenty of movies to watch and games to play though. As we gotclose to landing we had to start circling over Frankfurt because of the terrible fog. About an hour later we landed and it was seriously foggy. The plane clapped for the pilot for the good landing. We then went to get our luggage. Max and Brian came away successful. I, on the other hand, did not. Somehow my luggage didn't make it. We got on a train at about noon to go to Annika's house. Annika and Max dated for a long time but are now just friends. So yeah, that's who Annika is. I talked to someone and they were going to ship my luggage to her house whenever it got there. There were no seats on the train so we had to sit on the floor. Once we got to her house we took a 2 hour nap, ate dinner, showered, and went to a pub. While we were there, Max proceeded to spill an entire beer on the only outfit I have for the trip. So far our trip has been less than pleasant, much less. BUT we are thankful we arrived safely to Europe. We left from Brian's house in Richmond at 8:20 AM to pick up Max.
We had a flight at 11:50 AM that left from Dayton, Ohio to Detroit, Michigan. Our next flight is from Detroit to Frankfurt, Germany that departs at 5:30 PM. We have a long trip ahead of us and will be flying through the night. Our flight had a few problems before take off, the navigation system was broken (We kinda need that!). After a mechanic came on and fixed it, we filled up the gas tank again and we were on our way, an hour later. We will be landing in Frankfurt, Germany at around 8:30 AM on Sunday. So far the trip has been good and there haven't been too many problems. |
