The most beautiful day in February just so happened to be the day BHW took me to see the sunset.
BHW is usually pretty good with surprises and I had no clue where we were going. We wandered around and took some back roads for about 10 minutes until I mustered up the courage to ask the question you never ask a man, 'Do you know where you're going?' He answered with the simplest of answers.. 'no, but we're almost there.' Oh.. umm? Ok. Whatever you say mister! He took one more turn and we parked in someone's driveway. I had no clue what in the world we were doing. I commented on the beautiful sunset and BHW just chuckled. 'We're here to do #17. You didn't figure that out yet?' :P I love him so much, what a perfect day for a perfect sunset. Another plus was the people whose driveway we were in didn't come home while we were parked there for 20 minutes. xo

I completed this with the help of BHW and his best friend MCE!
A little back story; I spent my Saturday outside in a blizzard playing ultimate frisbee in Cincinnati Ohio, and my phone had died during the night. On the way back to Ball State, I turned my phone on to see if I had any battery life left. While looking at the blinking empty battery light on my phone I got a text from BHW that said 'Call me ASAP :)' and then the screen went black. I borrowed a friends phone to call my boyfriend back, surprisingly I got his number right on the first try. He picked up and told me that by luck of the draw, he had received some tickets to a Miami of Ohio hockey game for free! He also said he knew I'd be tired from the tournament but that he also knew 'go to a hockey game' was on my bucket list. If you don't know BHW he is SO not spontaneous so I was shocked to get this last minute invitation, he's such a sweetie. I convinced my teammates to drop me off at BHW's parent's house on the way home from our tournament and BHW would meet me there and we'd head off to the game with MCE! (Thanks teammates for dropping me off!) I tried to get a little nap in before the game but I was too excited for the hockey game! We got to the game and our seats were only 3 rows back! I couldn't contain my excitement, I had to get popcorn, it just felt right for my first ever hockey game! No, I didn't know any of the rules, I freaked out when people started throwing each other into the walls! The only hockey related thing I've ever seen is the Mighty Ducks, and that was years ago. BHW said to keep my eyes on the puck at all times because we were right at the level where the pucks come flying! We actually came close to getting hit once! It was a little exciting. haha. I got to see a Zambonie too! It was so cool to see them make the ice all shiny and 'new' again. Well, I won't go into all the details but the game was SO awesome! Miami won with a score of 4-1! Thanks again BHW and MCE for taking me to my first hockey game. xo It's January and everyone is still in 'New Years Resolution' mode so the
gym is packed before the sun comes up and long after the sun hides for the evening. I keep telling my friends, 'just wait until after spring break, this gym will be empty!' But not for us girls! I got a team discount on the fitness classes that the Ball State Rec Center offers and we all jumped on that wagon! The fitness schedule is easy to work with, as there are classes almost every hour in the evening! The variety of classes is also awesome, we haven't been to the same type of class twice, except yoga because it rocks. Some of the classes offered are Yoga (my personal favorite), H.A.B.I.T. (hips, abs, butt, inner thighs), Cycling, Piloxing (Pilates and Boxing), and Step. I wanted to join a fitness class because 1) I'll be spending my OWN money on the pass, therefor, I'll actually use it. 2) Working out in groups is wayyy more fun. and 3) I'm more relaxed when I'm active, if that makes any sense. AKA I'm in a much better mood. Yeah, $75 is a lot for a college girl like me but it's worth it and I'm happy that I went through with it. 2 down, 36 to go! What better way to start off the new year than baking homemade cookies with your little sister?!
For those of you that don't know me or my sister, SRD, we don't know how to cook or bake.. at all. This was an adventure before it had even begun and it only got more funny as the baking catastrophe continued. Enjoy the following instructions on how to bake your own homemade chocolate chip cookies. Step 1: measure out the ingredients.. the hard way Seriously? She couldn't just open the box correctly?! Step 2: mix dry ingredients.. preferably with a potato masher Look, it's all I had, I'm a poor college student. Step 3: mix butter.. with hands if necessary I was supposed to melt it apparently. Step 4: add butter to dry ingredients.. it should look something like scrambled eggs/popcorn Not exactly sure how it ended up looking like this.. at this point we started to think about scratching our plan for baking and throwing this mess out. Step 5: add 234092834 pounds of chocolate chips Would you like some dough with your chocolate chips? Step 6: place cookie dough on pan.. not necessarily a clean pan Lazy, I know. Step 7: let cookies cool This is a true test of patience. Step 8: EAT Surprisingly they didn't taste too bad! |
